7 Summer Cocktails to Try at Home
Nothing says summer like a refreshing, cool drink alongside a barbecue on a warm evening or during a baseball match. Showcase your mixing skills at your next summer pool party or grab a glass and cool off in your me-time. Here’s a list of popular summer drinks you can make at home:
1. Margarita
This is an absolute all-time favorite. Margarita is made from tequila, lime, fresh mint leaves, soda, and crushed ice. This drink is served with salt on the rim and is a total crowd-pleaser. You can also experiment and add in fruits and herbs of your choice.
2. Long Island iced tea
This one is another signature drink that always has a reserved spot at every event, be it weddings, game nights, or house parties. The beverage, which is made with a combination of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and triple sec, is for people who can hold a drink. You will need gin, tequila, vodka, light rum, triple sec, and some cola to make this.
3. Mojito
This classic, traditional Cuban highball needs white rum, sugar, zesty lime, fresh mint leaves, sparkling water/soda, and lots of ice to make. The quantity of alcohol and soda can be adjusted to suit your taste. Mojito is delicious and super easy to make.
4. Strawberry lemonade punch
Strawberry lemonade punch is a yummy three-ingredient party drink that is easy to whip up. It is made with a blend of hulled and halved strawberries, white rum or vodka, lemon juice, pure maple syrup, sparkling water, and blueberries. Garnish with some lemon slices, and top the drink with some ice before you serve. If you want to make some for your kids, you can leave the alcohol out of the recipe.
5. Mint tulip cocktail
This bright, refreshing summer cocktail is a wee bit different from other mint cocktails. What makes it different, you ask? It’s bourbon whiskey. To make a mint tulip cocktail, you will need cranberry juice, vodka, St. Germain, whiskey, and lemon juice. Top it with some mint sprigs, lemon slices, and lots and lots of ice.
6. Berry spritzer
Berry spritzer makes for a perfect summer drink and is a beautiful blend of berries, basil, orange juice, sugar, lemon juice, and vodka. It’s vibrant, delicious, and extremely easy to make. If your guest list includes children, ensure that you make a separate batch for them with no alcohol. It’s just as tasty.
7. Grapefruit ranch water
This unique cocktail is made with grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and tequila. You can try adding some jalapeno-infused tequila for that extra something. However, you will need to make this well in advance before you mix the cocktail. Top the drink with sparkling water and garnish with grapefruit wedges, cilantro sprigs, and sliced jalapeños.
